So we had our primary program a couple weeks ago, and I wish I had a video or pictures that would do justice to my boys and this program. I just love seeing their different personalities! It’s awesome! They were so cute! The morning of the program Preston was feeling kind of nervous, and wasn’t sure if he wanted to go to church. So Zach told him, “Preston, you are the best singer in the primary. There is no way we can do it without you! You have to come!” How incredibly cute it that? I was very proud of Zach for being such a sweet big brother!
Now on to the program…. first, there is Zach. He did great memorizing and saying his part, sang a couple songs (halfheartedly), played with the girl next to him, jumped around, untucked his shirt, took off his tie, put on his tie, flipped up his tie, twisted his tie (ok, you get the point). And he had a fabulous time and thinks it was great. He was all smiles!
Preston, on the other hand – he is a singer. He’s the kid in primary that knows every word to every song and you can hear him way above the rest of the primary combined! I don’t think his eyes ever left the chorister, and he really belted it out! (seriously) It was so stinkin’ cute! I think half the ward commented on him after it was over. He also did great on memorizing and saying his part.
I just love the way their personalities came shining through! And it got me thinking about my boys and singing. Because it’s not like Zach doesn’t like to sing. I often hear him in the bathroom with the door closed belting out “The Boys Are Back” from High School Musical 3, or downstairs arranging parts for him and Preston to sing “1,2,3,4″ by Plain White T’s. I guess he just likes pop music, and he loves to sing as long as no one is watching him. If he doesn’t know you are listening he goes all out – full force. He loves to put on the Liken The Scriptures movies and sing and dance all over the place!
And as the primary program illustrated, Preston loves to sing no matter what. He memorizes words so quickly, and can sing every word to every song he’s ever heard. (Ok, that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the idea). And he doesn’t get as embarrassed as quickly, but still has a tendency to shy away when he knows everyone is listening to him.
And now for child #3 – Kyle. I think Kyle sings better than he talks – seriously! He can imitate the sounds of the words pretty darn well, and is amazingly on tune most of the time. It is the cutest thing you’ve ever seen! There’s a youtube video about Star Wars set to a bunch of John Williams songs, and he sings along with it (actions and all). I love it! It is so cute! And he sings along to Christmas music as the other boys are singing it. He just jumps right in and gives it his all. Mike and I are both smitten by it!
So, that’s it for my rambling blog post about my boys and their wonderful, yet vastly different, singing styles. I think I have 3 pretty darn cute boys!!
