Oveson Family

Isn’t it about…time?

Just wanted to share the new fall family picture we just took!!

Here are a couple other fun ones of my cute boys!:

Anyone that talked to us about taking theirs, now is the time!  The leaves were great!

We had so much fun picking and carving pumpkins on Saturday!

Some wonderfully sweet friends of ours grew a big ol’ pumpkin patch, and invited us over to pick and carve a pumpkin out of their patch!  My kids looked forward to this “pumpkin festival” for weeks!  They kept asking everyday how many more days it was until the pumpkin festival.  So, Saturday finally arrived!  Unfortunatly, Mike was shooting a play – which left me to carve pumpkins alone with the boys.  Normally, I don’t mind holding down the fort while Mike is gone, but the idea of all of my boys having sharp knives without a lot of supervision kind of worried me.  But, luckily we have very kind and helpful friends that helped my boys a ton!  In fact, I didn’t end up helping carve much at all! THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!!

Of course, I did end up with the “scooping pumpkin guts out” job on all the pumpkins, so I still think I did my part at least a little bit.  Zach’s favorite thing was the power pumpkin knife – it was very cool, and made it easy for Zach to carve mostly on his own!  He’s really proud of the “loose tooth” on his pumpkin.  And Preston really wanted a “scary face” – I think Bishop Medsker did a great job of making it scary!  Here are the finished products:

I also “helped” Kyle carve his pumkin.  He was only interested in one thing – eating the pumpkin guts!  He was obsessed with getting to them and eating them!  I guess that’s  a 6 month old for you!

And here are all of the kids and their pumpkins:

Thank you for such a great time!

On Thursday we took a preschool field trip to Black Island Farm, and it was such a FUN field trip!!  It started with a hay ride (minus the hay).  They explained farming to us as they showed us their fields and crops.  Then we went out to the field where the kids got to pick their own pumpkin and cut it off the vine!  Too fun!

Then we got to go to the “field o’ fun!”  They had a corn maze,

Giant slides – Preston got to the top of the really giant one and decided that if he went down it he would probably get hurt (he’s one of the kids looking down in the picture), so he decided to stick to the smaller slides.

A “corn box” (instead of a sand box) – Kyle and Pres both LOVED this!  I had to keep an eye on Ky because he kept wanting to eat the corn, but it was awesome!  I even found myself diggin in it!

a little train,

a bounce house, animals, and all sorts of other fun things to do! We also got to go with our cousin’s preschool group, so that was really fun!

I kept trying to get cute pictures of Kyle, but he was so facinated by all the stuff around him that I could never get him to look up at me!

And last but not least, here are some of our cute preschool friends!!

Just to start things off right, this is Mike. I’m adding another post today, because I had a fun adventure that I wanted to share. Preston, our three year old, had a field trip today with his preschool class. Mary and Preston and Kyle went out to a farm where they had all sorts of adventures. I’m sure Mary will post about it and put up the correspondingly cute pictures that she took. So I will leave that to her. My adventure involves Zach. Zach needed to be picked up from kindergarten before Mary was going to be home, so I went to pick him up and bring him back to work with me. I thought it was cool to spend some time with Zach and I thought he would probably enjoy some time with me as well.

So, I picked up Zach and brought him back here to work. For those of you who do not know, I work at the Ogden Eccles Conference Center. I got Zach all settled at a chair near my desk with some markers and paper and let him draw for a while. He drew a cute picture  of a flower and grass and the sky and the sun.

Then he started to play with the ten-key on my desk. After that he found the flashlight that was magnetically attached to the filing cabinet and started to “explore”. He climbed under my desk and found some mysterious writing. After climbing out from under my desk he proceeded to turn off the lights in the room to play with the flashlight. I had to ask him to turn the lights back on, which he didn’t understand why we had to that. I told him that it was work and we needed to keep the lights on for everyone.

Zach then decided to explore the area around my desk. He climbed up on another part of my desk behind me and before I knew it he had grabbed the microphone for the PA system, turned it on and started blowing into it. As the mic does activate EVERY speaker in the entire building I quickly heard the noise, realized what it was and turned to stop him. He had heard the noise he’d made too and thought it was rather cool. Admittedly, I would have thought it was cool as a five year old as well. Thinking of that made me just laugh about it instead of getting upset. I told Zach he couldn’t play with the microphone anymore. To actually give him something to do I took him upstairs to get the mail. He was very energetic in climbing those stairs. We got the mail and took it back down, where Zach helped me open it, date stamp it and then scan it into the system. He picked up the scanning rather quickly. He only watched me scan one document and then wanted to push all of the buttons himself. That may sound simple, but you have to push about five different things to get the settings correct and have it headed to the right place. He picked it up really quickly and scanned in all of the mail. It was great.

Anyway, the most touching thing of the experience was when Zach found my little post-it notes and started writing on them. He took three of them and wrote the following:

He put them in the order they appear in the picture: Dad Luv Zach. And he’s absolutely right. I do love my son Zach and all of my sons. What a privilege it is to be a father. I remember my own dad taking me to work with him from time to time. I’m sure I bothered him and took up his time and made a mess of things. But I also know he loved me and I sure loved him and thought it was cool to be at work with my dad. I think having sons of my own gives me a greater understanding of just how much of a sacrifice it was not only for Jesus Christ, but also for our Heavenly Father, to go through with the Atonement. That’s not to say that you must be a father to understand it “fully” or “completely”. I feel that it does give me a small measure of understanding, and that I am grateful for. I am so blessed to have such a beautiful and loving wife who is a great mother to these boys. May we all realize the great gift we have been given in our families.

Just wanted to let you all know that my sisters-in-law (sister-in-laws?) are selling jewlery.  Check out their website!  www.shopabeadforeveryoccasion.com/

Over UEA weekend we went with Mike’s family up to Island Park and Yellowstone.  I think this was the first time we have ALL been on a vacation together, and it was fun to have everyone there!  Here’s the crew:

The downside to the little getaway was that we all got the stomach flu – not much fun!  This is about how we felt:

But other than the flu, it was a much needed break!  Here are a couple fun pictures!

This is what you do…..You go to your pictures area on your computer and pick the 4th folder and 4th picture and then explain it!

SO……

This picture is of Preston on the day he was born (February 24, 2005).  Isn’t he the sweetest thing?  There is nothing sweeter than a new born baby!  I love it!  As I’m watching him run around the house right now with his “Indiana Jones whip” (a.k.a. a belt), it’s fun to look back on when he was just teeny!!

I just notice that I uploaded these pictures to our blog a couple weeks ago, and never blogged about them!  So, I figured I’d insert them here.  So, instead of snow pictures (that would be appropriate for today), here are pictures from the duck pond!  We had a family picnic there a couple weeks ago & had so much fun! Zach led his brother on a great exploring expedition.  While Preston’s main goal was to scare all the ducks back into the pond, and he did a mighty good job of it!  Kyle was facinated by the ducks, and kept watching their every move.  And we left feeling like we are the only people in Ogden that still get our water from the tap instead of the well by the pond!  It was a popluar place!  Anyway, here are some fun pictures from a fun night!
